Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2025
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Acta, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Acta.
2. Description of service
Acta is a personal health record management tool. It allows you to store, organise, and review your own medical records and health data. Acta is not a medical provider, does not employ healthcare professionals, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
3. Not medical advice
Nothing on Acta — including AI-generated insights, summaries, or analyses — constitutes medical advice. All content is for informational and organisational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions. Do not delay or disregard professional medical advice based on anything you read or receive through Acta.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Acta. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using Acta on behalf of another person (e.g., a minor or dependent), you take full responsibility for their data and for complying with these terms on their behalf.
5. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password secure and confidential.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us promptly of any unauthorised use.
We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorised access to your account.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Acta for any unlawful purpose.
- Upload content that is false, misleading, or that you do not have rights to.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or our systems.
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without written permission.
7. Your data
You own your health data. You grant Acta a limited licence to store and process it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. You can export or delete all your data at any time from the Settings page.
8. AI features
AI-powered features (document extraction, health insights) are provided as-is. AI outputs may contain errors. Always verify AI-extracted information against your original documents. We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI output.
9. Subscriptions and billing
Free plan features are available at no charge. Pro plan features require a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- You can cancel at any time from your account settings. You retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.
- Refunds are provided at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
Acta is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We make no guarantees about the accuracy of AI-generated content.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Acta is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice within the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Acta operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
